Purpose of the Migrant Education Program

The purpose of the Migrant Education Program is to:
Identify educational needs of migrant children and their families, and ensures that migrant students, who move between states, are not at disadvantage because of differences in curriculum, graduation requirements, and academic standards.

After School Tutorial Program

The Migrant Education Program provides tutorial programs  at several  elementary and middle schools, that have  higher percentages of migrant enrolled students, and at migrant camps. The primary focus of tutorial programs is to provide a comprehensive academic program to migrant students who are at risk of failing  to meet the State’s challenging academic content and achievement standards. Highly qualified  teachers work with students in the needed academic areas of Reading and/or Math. These programs have been offered at the following school sites:
  • Pinewoods Elementary
  • Spring Creek Elementary
  • Tice Elementary
  • Bonita Springs Middle
  • Three Oaks Middle
The Migrant Education Program works in conjunction with the representative of Sinsiwana Dominican Sisters, Sister Karinne O’Malley, in providing a tutorial program for migrant students at the Saldivar Camp in Bonita Springs.
